**Community Notice**

The purpose of this e-mail is to make you aware of an incident that occurred off-campus near the University of Maryland, College Park campus. The following is a synopsis of an incident reported to the Prince George's County Police Department.

INCIDENT: Off-Campus Burglary

OCCURRED: October 8, 2026 (Thursday)/ Approximately 8 p.m.

LOCATION: 4700 block of Norwich Road, College Park, Maryland

PGPD CASE #: 26-0053799

BRIEF DETAILS:

On October 8, 2026, at approximately 8:48 p.m., the University of Maryland Police Department responded to the 4700 block of Norwich Road to assist the Prince George’s County Police Department with a call about a suspicious person looking into windows.

While officers were talking to residents in the area, it was learned that a burglary occurred earlier when a resident was home. Entry was made through an unsecured door. On October 8, 2026, at approximately 8 p.m., a resident heard the front door open. The resident yelled a question towards the intruder and then she heard the door slammed shut.

Officers checked the surrounding property for the suspect which yielded negative results. The Prince George’s County Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident.

Anyone with information related to this incident and/or the possible identity of the suspect are encouraged to contact the Prince George’s County Police Department (911 or 301-352-1200). If you observe suspicious activity or behavior, contact the police immediately by calling 911.
