INCIDENT: Residential Burglaries

OCCURRED: August 30, 2026 (Sunday)/ Between 1:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.

LOCATION: 3rd Floor of South Campus Commons #3, College Park, Maryland 20742

BRIEF DETAILS:

Case Number 2026-234069

On August 30, 2026, at approximately 4:17 a.m., the University of Maryland Police Department responded to the third floor of South Campus Commons #3 for a burglary.

At approximately 4:15 a.m., a resident (student) was in another part of the apartment when she heard a noise coming from the common area. The resident opened the door to look and saw a man in the common area of the apartment. The suspect immediately left the apartment.

The resident reported that the suspect was wearing a grey shirt and dark pants, is approximately 5’8” to 6’ tall, and in his early 20s.

Case Number 2026-234177

On August 30, 2026, at approximately 9:52 a.m., the University of Maryland Police Department responded to South Campus Commons #3 for a burglary. At approximately 9 a.m., residents (students) found kitchen related items on the floor in one of the common areas.

Officers conducted a witness canvass of the nearby apartments and identified a third residence. At approximately 7:30 a.m., residents (students) found items out in the kitchen that were not out previously and in the living room.

Officers conducted a witness canvass for the rest of the third floor and did not locate any additional apartments that had any concerns.

After further investigation, detectives from our Criminal Investigations Unit have obtained screenshots of persons of interest. Please see photos above.

Make sure that you lock your doors and windows before you leave your residence and when you are in for the night.
